Theme of the Day: Celebration and reflection

Today we'll combine all themes for a final engineering showcase and celebration.

Storytime Setup

Story: "The Greatest Engineering Adventure"

Setup:

Arrange creations from previous days to create a display of the week's engineering projects.

Story Outline:

A recap story that integrates all the concepts learned throughout the week. Two sisters (like your children) remember their adventures with space, animals, fire trucks, princesses, underwater exploration, and adventure parks. They realize they've become real engineers who can solve problems and build amazing things.

  • Review of all engineering concepts covered
  • Celebration of creativity and problem-solving
  • Importance of testing and improving designs
  • Continuing the journey of learning and building
Children showcasing engineering projects

Hands-On Activity: Dream Engineering Project

Materials:

  • All materials used throughout the week
  • Large poster board
  • Markers and decorative materials
  • Camera to document creations

Instructions:

  1. Discuss favorite activities from the week
  2. Help children choose a 'dream project' that combines elements from different days
  3. Plan the project by drawing it first
  4. Build the project using various materials
  5. Test and improve the design
  6. Create a 'museum display' with all projects from the week
  7. Take photos and create a mini 'engineering portfolio'
  8. Award 'Master Engineer Certificates' to celebrate completion of the course

Create a "parade" where children demonstrate their engineering knowledge through movement:

  3. "Show me how fire trucks help people" (Fire truck day)
  4. "Show me how to build a strong tower" (Princess castle day)
